The year 2001. The month September. The day 11th - 9/11/2001.  Venue Ground Zero. The event - the bombing of the Twin Towers. That was “Hollywood.” Flash back to “Nollywood”. The year, 2001. The month September. The date 7th. 9/7/2001. Venue, Bauchi road, Jos, Plateau State. The event, an innocent woman passes near the Muslims praying that fateful Friday. She was attacked. That laid the foundation for the sporadic and ceaseless violence in Jos. The once serene tourist city of Jos   has known no peace since then. Nothing best describes man’s inhumanity to man. Some thinker wrote “When I think of man, I love my Dog”.  How true!

HOW CULTURE AND ARTS CAN DEPLOY ITS INSTRUMENTS TO COUNTER THREATS IN WHATEVER FORM THEY MAY APPEAR.

A poet once said, things fall apart, the centre cannot hold. This vividly describes the state of the world as a theatre of threats. This can be attributed to incompatible goals or struggle over values or claims to power, status and scarce resources. Mutalab’s case of December 25, 2009 was another dimension of internationalization of these threats. The black race was seriously humiliated. We are tempted to ask if God is white or black. Why black again?

Day in day out, the world is continuously searching for a panacea to tame these threats. Thanks to culture, artistic tools, theatre stand out. It has capacity for social mobilization, development and conflict resolution. Its concentration, informs, educates and above all engages its audience.
